11th Grade Health- Ms. Schade COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to further develop health related concepts and activities that are functionally linked to the knowledge base, attitudes, and behaviors of the student and their environment. It will include units on self esteem, mental health, stress, relationships, drugs and society, sexual education, sexually transmitted disease, and AIDS education. There will be an emphasis during these units on decision-making skills, the identification, and consequences of at risk behaviors. |

COURSE EVALUATION Grades are based on a point system. Students are responsible for keeping a running total of their grade. Grades will consist of the following: -class work -homework -grade sheets -quizzes and tests -assigned projects- will vary according to unit -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GENERAL PROCEDURES 1. Notebook- any type of notebook is acceptable, a folder for hand-outs is recommended: grade sheets should be kept in notebook. 2. Absentee Policy- Homework buddies will be given to all students to check on missed work. The work you missed on the day you were absent you have 5 days to complete. Any work due the day you were absent will be expected when you return. 3. Punctuality- Be on time and in your seat for the start of class (when the bell rings). You will recieve 1 warning and the next late to class means detention. 4. Homework- Late work is not acceptable, you will recieve a zero for work not turned in on time. 5. Be prepared - notebook, paper, pen, pencil. 6. The class web site is at: www.fortunecity.com/campus/chemistry/542/. This can be used to check on assignments, class activities, find resources, or to contact me through the e-mail address. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FINAL NOTE You should be aware of your grade the entire semester by keeping a running total on your grade sheet. Do not wait until the end of a unit/marking period/semester to discuss your progress. I am available at the end of class if you wish to do this. As a student you should be prepared to pay attention in class, contribute to class discussion and activities, and assume responsibility in preparing your work.
